Bradken SmartRoller™ enables safer & more efficient undercarriage operation
Bradken, a global leader in mining wear solutions, has recently launched Bradken SmartRoller™ – a digital product which it says can improve excavator undercarriage performance significantly.
It enables real-time, continuous remote monitoring of undercarriage roller temperature, leading to maximised productivity and reduced lifecycle costs. Temperature trends indicate wear progression and early alerts enable proactive replacement, preventing failures and reducing downtime.
The undercarriage roller temperature is autonomously and continuously monitored in real-time, and operators get alerts in their cabin whenever threshold limits are exceeded. Users can also plug and play Bradken SmartRoller™ with Bradken Load Rollers.
The company says the solution helps maximise productivity, as real-time precision temperature monitoring enables continuous tramming and faster return to production. Operators can optimise propel times, reducing stoppages.
It also enhances safety, as the process of on-the-ground manual temperature measurements during tramming is eliminated, load roller temperature is monitored in real time, and data is delivered directly to the operator in the cabin – people are removed from the machine envelope and direct line-of-fire zone.
Finally, it offers reduced lifecycle costs, as early alerts lead to proactive replacement, preventing failures and reducing downtime. Overall, it improves preventive maintenance scheduling efficiency.
